OverlandintheSun – What is it all about?

By overlandinthesun
In September 2009 a group of young people will be driving from London to Cape Town, raising money for SolarAid - a charity that fights global poverty and climate change with solar power.  The aim of the trip is to increase the understanding of the issues facing citizens of countries across the Africa continent who are most effected by climate change yet contribute the least to the cause.  The trip itself will contribute less to climate change than are normal daily lives in the UK as we learn from different ways of life.
We will visit the work of SolarAid (and hopefully some other sites where renewable energy is being use) in an 1989 Toyota Landcruiser partially powered by solar technology.
Travelling overland the perfect way to see the unique geography, history and culture all the way from Europe to Africa – why fly when you can turn the journey into a Safari
We will be updating this website (and various other networks) along the journey so you will be able to follow us as we meet new people / eat new foods / see wonders of the world / get stuck in the sand / issues with boarders…

Please donate to SolarAid, we hope to raise £20,000!
